Symphony Service Award

Long-time local resident and business woman, Lois K. Lauer, is being presented with the Redlands Symphony’s first ”Symphony Service Award” at this evening’s performance. The presentation will be made by Maestro Jon Robertson.

“Lois Lauer has made a tremendous contribution to the Redlands Symphony over the years, “ Maestro Robertson recalls, “She was instrumental in bringing me to this orchestra almost 30 years ago and has consistently played an important role in helping to build the orchestra into the world-class group of musicians it has become. Lois has always understood the importance of having strong community support for the orchestra. She has given her time and talents as a board member and past President and worked tirelessly to raise money and visibility for the organization throughout the Inland Empire. There is no one I can think of who is more deserving of this recognition than Lois Lauer.”

The Symphony’s board created the Redlands Symphony Service Award to recognize an individual, business or organization who renders an extraordinary personal effort and service on behalf of the Symphony and in support of its mission. This is the first time the award has been presented. The resolution creating the award specifies that it be presented upon nomination of a candidate by a board member, whenever long-term service to the organization merits that level of recognition.

Ms. Lauer is being presented with a sterling silver pin studded with jewels depicting the Memorial Chapel on the University of Redlands campus where the Redlands Symphony performs. A treble clef with the opening notes of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 floats over the iconic clock tower on the face of the pin. The pin was designed and crafted by Paul G. Emerson of Emerson & Farrar Jewelers in Redlands.

Lois has served as a member of the Redland’s Symphony Association’s board of directors and also served as the organization’s president. She inaugurated and promoted jazz concerts as part of the Symphony’s programming, with proceeds benefiting local charities.

Ms. Lauer has been actively involved in all 26 of the Redlands Symphony’s Galas and is already working on the 27th event that will take place on the first Saturday in June. Along with her colleagues on the Symphony’s Gala Committee she has helped raised millions of dollars to support the Symphony and its education programs.

Congratulations, Lois…and thank you.
