Katrina Phipps began her training in opera and classical music at the College of the Desert under the direction of Robert E. Brown. She completed a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance (2005) at the University of Redlands School of Music under the vocal tutelage of Professor Marco Schindelmann in 2003 and a Master of Music in vocal performance in 2005.

Mrs. Herrera has performed leading roles in productions of The Old Maid and the Thief, La traviata, The Medium, Ego and Don Giovanni as well as the title roles in Dido and Aeneas and Norma.

In 2007, Katrina Herrera performed with the Redlands Symphony Orchestra as the soprano soloist for its production of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony under the baton of Maestro Robertson.

Active in the new music and sound art scene, Katrina has performed with Scary Culture and W.E.E. As a member of MLuM, her work has been featured internationally and in Southern California. . Recent projects include Right of Springer, at the Dung Mummy Festival, Il Corral; Cadential Eyes and Mascara Lotus at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. Her voice was also featured in FLOOD’s Bluetooth’s Castle, a response project presented during the TED Conference in Long Beach, CA. Currently, she is involved in Beau Monde Float, Thirteen Six Views of Sound Beauty, a “sonopera” created and performed in collaboration with the Hi Hopes Identity Foundation, a fine arts program for developmentally disabled adults.

Mrs. Herrera volunteers her time and talent in efforts to support those in need, most recently to help raise money for disaster relief in Haiti. She hopes to become more involved in humanitarian efforts in the future.
